It’s only for a limited time (as everything appears to be these days), but if you are a fan of the Hydrox Cookie, you can get your “fix” thanks to a successful consumer campaign. Although you may not hear much about it, Kellogg’s is quietly returning the cookie to grocery store shelves, after pulling them in 2003 in apparent surrender to the Oreo.
According to a story in Ad Age, there were “more than 1,300 phone calls, 1,000 petition signatures and ‘countless online message board postings.’” The Wall Street Journal also reported the story.
And, if you are one of those thousands who has strong feeling about the Hydrox, you can go to a new website, and share your stories. What’s more, rumor has it that contributors to the site may win a trip to New York City for a celebration of the 100-year-old cookie. The information isn’t up yet, but is posted as “coming soon.” When it does, just tell them you heard about it on the original Food Channel!
