I'm Dreaming of a Green Picnic

Okay, admittedly this is not a great time of year to go on a picnic in the U.S., unless you live in the part of the country that stays warm year-round…but it’s always a good time to think about being green and eco-conscious, right?

Well, we ran across this Eco Luxury Picnic Set for 6, and wanted you to hear about it.

Everything in this picnic pack is earth-friendly, including the big brown recycled-cardboard box it’s packed in—it magically opens out to reveal a very practical tablecloth so picnickers can picnic in style.

The kit includes:

â‹… 6 plates, 6 bowls, 6 hot or cold drink cups

â‹… 4 round food pots with lids, 1 rectangular food pot with lid

â‹… 6 wooden knives, forks, and spoons, 10 napkins

â‹… 1 carrying box with integral fold-out tablecloth

All plates, bowls, cups and food pots with lids are made entirely of sustainably-sourced sugarcane fiber, which is a totally natural by-product of the world’s sugar industry. The natural wooden cutlery is made from sustainably-sourced birch and the napkins are made in the UK from unbleached, recycled UK waste paper.

According to the manufacturer, the picnic set is so natural that, at the conclusion of your picnic, you could bury the whole thing – food scraps and all – and happily leave it all to naturally break down in a matter of weeks. Product of the UK. Cost in U.S. dollars: about $21.

Hey, it’s not too early to start planning for that first Spring picnic, right?
