The Banana Diet

It started after a series of television shows in Japan promoted the banana as a diet technique. Suddenly sales of bananas were up 70 percent and diet books called the fruit a new superfood. The craze caused prices to increase and importers to buy more.

The Morning Banana Diet essentially says that eating bananas for breakfast will cause weight loss no matter what else you eat. However, scientists say that there is no particular stimulus from the banana itself, although there may be from substituting fruit for the unhealthy things you might otherwise ingest!

Last year’s diet fad in Japan was natto fermented soybeans, which was also disproved by scientists.
