Whole Foods Market plans to open four stores in Hawaii by the end of 2010.

According to KHNL-TV, three stores will be on Oahu and one will be on Maui.

Whole Foods executives said they want to help spur more food production in Hawaii, KHNL reported.

“The culture and the lifestyle of Hawaii is so aligned with the culture of Whole Foods Market that I think it’s the perfect fit for us,” said Michael Besancon, southern Pacific region president of Whole Foods.
