Recipe for a Hangover Cure?

By Cari Martens

The holiday season is a time for family, fun, laughter and THE HANGOVER! No, not the hilarious movie that just came out on DVD – the real life, palpitation causing, dreaded, not-so-hilarious holiday hangover. This is also the time of year when over-the-counter hangover remedies make their big pitch.

A hangover happens when alcohol that has been consumed is finally eliminated from the body—when the blood-alcohol level returns to zero. The toxin is now gone, but the damage it has done is not. The result is generally some combination of headache, upset stomach, thirst, food aversion, nausea, diarrhea, tremulousness, fatigue, and a general feeling of yuckiness. Scientists haven’t yet found all the reasons for this network of woes, but they have proposed various causes.

There are a number of recommended “natural home remedies,” such as honey, ginger, peppermint, gingseng, vitamin B, and, of course, hair of the dog.

AgroLabs has a series of products that claim to help cure even the worst hangover, providing your body with sufficient vitamins and nutrients they say will help you to bounce back to normal in no time. These products can be found at most major discount chains and retail drug stores.

A Hangover “Cocktail”

The Acai Daily Cleanse combines all hangover cures into one drink, including Milk Thistle, a natural protection against liver toxins, as well as acai berry, pure young green coconut water, antioxidant green tea, healing aloe vera, anti-inflammatory ginger and laxative senna.

The Green Envy Daily Detox will awaken your immune system with a premium blend of natural superfoods that aid in total cellular cleanse, providing a necessary boost to counteract the body’s weakness when suffering a hangover.

Here is their recipe for success after a night of overindulgence.

AgroLabs Hangover Helper Recipe
1/2 oz. Green Envy Daily Detox
1/2 oz. Acai Daily Cleanse
Juice from 1/2 lime
4 Mint Leaves
Ginger Ale

Directions: Mix ingredients in a glass filled with ice, top with ginger ale and stir.

Here’s hoping this comes in handy for you should you need it sometime. Like, maybe this Friday.
