40 Days Sans Meat: Meat Encounters

What are you giving up for Lent? Christen Nehmer, videographer for The Food Channel, is giving us her experience in going meatless. Follow along throughout the 40 days of Lent.

Day 27:

Not eating meat is easy, if you don’t ever have a run-in with it. When I go grocery shopping, I try to avoid the deli counter as much as possible. Unfortunately, today I had to go back there to get some more salmon. Yes, I eat this pretty often. What? It’s satisfying and full of good for you vitamins and other stuff.

So, I go back to the deli counter and as I’m scanning the cases for the fish, my eyes go over filet mignons, cordon bleu chicken, tenderloins, t-bone steaks and, finally, the seafood. I was doing just dandy today. too. I even ate at the office (lame, I know) so I wouldn’t be tempted at a fast food place.

I repeated a dinner; it’s just so tasty and easy to make. Maybe next time I’ll make a glaze for the fish. Anyone know of any good glaze recipes?

Breakfast: Starbucks Chocolate-Banana Vivano
Lunch: Greek Yogurt with Granola
Dinner: Grilled Salmon with roasted potatoes and green beans
