Roland Foods introduced its new Indian line at the Fancy Food Show. The recipes are authentic Indian and straight from the inspiration of an employee—Patricia Forbes, who has taken her grandmother’s recipes and turned them into a specialty ingredient we can all enjoy.
Paul Vertullo, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Roland, tells us that Roland has been doing exactly that for 75 years. “We’re a source of specialty ingredient products,” he says. “We feel that there’s a trend, particularly among younger people, for the need for chef quality, quick and easy foods,” he adds.
“The American palate continues to evolve,” says Vertullo, thus the move toward Indian foods. “We import from 40 countries, and try to stay with the culinary trends. The buzz we’ve heard from chefs has been all about flavor with depth—not necessarily strong flavors, but complex. Not just hot and spicy, but true flavor,” he explains. “There has been a change in our demographics, bringing an appreciation of and more options for other flavors.”
