One of the most searched terms on foodchannel.com is “Paula Deen.”
Whether you love her, or whether you are one of the many who have been concerned about the butter and sugar intake of her shows, she’s a definite entity. And, we want to give her kudos for taking a stand on Type 2 Diabetes, even though some say it’s belated.
She’s approaching it with typical forthrightness, and, what’s more, she’s managed to find a way to reinvent her recipes without giving up on her style. The new show with Bobby Deen, where he takes some of her standards and makes them lighter, is fun to watch and definitely trends in a healthier direction.
She’s also taken on a cause—you can join in at www.diabetesinanewlight.com.
Check out her blog, where she says, “When I learned I had type 2 diabetes, I decided to approach managing the disease with the same positivity and “go get ‘em” attitude I have everyday. In the past, I’ve heard so many stories of people like me that let diabetes control their lives, but I didn’t want to let this slow me down. I wanted to take control and have a delicious time doing it.”
And take a look at the redo of her Gooey Butter Cake, by Bobby Deen.
If you make it, let us know how it turns out. It’s a great way to acknowledge a new direction for a lady who has made a difference.
