Beet your way to better health!
God has blessed us with an amazing growing season this year. I don’t know what it was about beets that kept me “beating feet” whenever they came around.
Perhaps someone offered them to me as a child and they were prepared in such a way that my young palate could not appreciate them. I cannot say with any certainty because I possess absolutely no memory of ever eating one. However, for some reason, the mere sight of them repelled me for many, many, many decades and never actually got around to tasting one – according to my memory – until I roasted up some gold, organic ones someone gave me just a few scant years ago.
I have to say that I was not only surprised by their flavor, but also downright astounded! So much so that I wanted to “beat” myself up for waiting so long to try them – Such is life!
Beets Are Incredible!
Now considered a super food, recent studies now tell us that beets are “super” beneficial to our health!
Consuming beets, or their juices, can decrease risk of obesity, diabetes, and heart disease. Beets also improve blood flow, promote healthy complexion, hair, improve athletic performance, increase energy, and help lower blood pressure, too!

Researchers at Wake Forest University have found that drinking juice from beets can help oxygenate the brain, which slows the progression of dementia in older adults. This is because beets are high in nitrates, which improves the blood flow to areas that are lacking.
They’re More Than Just Tasty
Containing alpha-lipoic acid and choline, respectively, beets can lower glucose levels, aid in peripheral neuropathy, and help reduce chronic inflammation, too – yah!
Perhaps most incredibly is that beets also improve muscle oxygenation, which can give us more muscle power. This is not only a plus for athletes and highly active individuals, but also for us regular folk too, especially those who might be struggling with simple daily tasks due to low oxygen intake.
Delicious, nutritious, and loaded with incredible benefits, I think its time for all of us to “Beet it!” with this recipe for Perfectly Picked Beets. ENJOY!
