Flowers, candy and cards are definitely popular ways to celebrate mom. We recently received a copy of a unique gift – a food journal called Nourishment. A food journal on its own isn’t new, but this version is designed for mom to document a five-year culinary journey, but it’s not just a food diary.
Nourishment is meant to capture the important moments surrounding meals, whether that be personal goals for eating healthier or cutting out certain foods, but what intrigues us most is the focus on capturing special moments and memories. As an example, a new mom might write about the foods she feeds her baby for the first five years. The ups and downs of trying new foods, how the diet progresses, and the memories and feelings associated with that journey.
We love the idea of capturing the moment – what did you eat, who was there to share it with you, did you share any recipe traditions? It’s also a great way to learn how foods affect the way you feel. What foods energize you? What changes might you need to make, and did it work? The possibilities are endless. Food is much more than nourishment of the body and this journal allows you to capture the broader picture.
