The Countdown to your party
Now that you have the recipes and your décor and activities planned, it’s time to start the countdown to your Oscars party! Every good party has a timeline of events to keep things on track, which is why Instyle did the hard work for you.
3 Weeks Away
Send your invitations to the invited guests.
2 Weeks Away
Order stationery supplies for the ballots, including pencils and, if desired, clipboards for supporting the ballots. Order 35mm film for the table display. Stock up on cocktail supplies and sparkling wines. Determine which serving vessels will suit each dish. Buy tablewares, linens, glassware, and balloons.
1 Week Away
Print out the Oscar ballots for the activity. Select an outfit for the evening, something black and white or something that shimmers with Hollywood glam.
2 Days Out
Bake the cookies, storing them in an airtight container.
1 Day Prior
Whip up the icing and ice the cookies. Make the soup, and refrigerate. Rim the cocktail glasses with cinnamon sugar. Begin setting up the buffet. Arrange the viewing area, making sure there are cozy places to sit.
5 Hours Until the Party
Plate the cookies. Set up the martini bar. Thaw the puff pastry dough. Bring the goat cheese to room temperature.

Lay out any extra nibbles like chocolate, cheese, and fruit. Put the sparkling wine on ice.

Bake the caramelized onion tarts.
