This season we are seeing maple syrup as one of the best add-ins for your autumnal recipes!
Enjoy this moist coffee cake with a hint of cinnamon, apple, and a whole lot of maple! All the fall flavors together in one cake.

Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1 stick unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1/2 cup The Maple Guild Grade A maple syrup (boiled and reduced to a 1/4 cup)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups unsweetened applesauce
- 1/4 cup The Maple Guild Grade A Maple Syrup, for coating
Preparation
- 1 Preheat oven to 350ºF and grease a 9-inch cake pan
- 2 Whisk together the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder and soda, salt, and spices)
- 3 Beat butter, sugar, maple syrup, and vanilla in a mixer at high speed until pale and fluffy (2-3 minutes)
- 4 Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition and scraping down the sides
- 5 Add in the applesauce and beat well to incorporate
- 6 At low speed, add in the dry ingredients until just combined
- 7 Pour the batter into the pan and bake until golden-brown (35-40 minutes)
- 8 Remove from oven and place on a cooling rack. Immediately brush a layer of maple syrup on top of the cake to soak in as it cools
