Spice Bread with Maple Walnut Glaze

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/4 cup Mrs. Butterworth's Syrup
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • FOR SUGAR GLAZE:
  • 1 cup confectioner's sugar
  • 1 1/4 tablespoons Mrs. Butterworth's Syrup
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Preparation

  • 1 For Bread:Combine all dry ingredients in a medium bowl.
  • 2 In a large mixing bowl, combine eggs, milk, syrup, butter and vanilla extract. Whisk until well mixed.
  • 3 Add flour mixture to egg mixture. Mix gently.
  • 4 Pour into a greased 8 ½’ by 4 ½’ loaf pan. Bake at 350€F for 45-50 minutes or until done.
  • 5 For Sugar Glaze:Combine confectioner's sugar with 1 ¼ tablespoons syrup and 1 tablespoon milk. Drizzle over cooled bread and sprinkle with chopped walnuts.
