Our friends at NationalToday.com recently conducted a survey, prior to National Cheeseburger Day in September, asking Americans the best way to top a cheeseburger. We know burgers are popular, but this survey revealed only 18 percent of respondents didn’t like cheeseburgers. See the top choices, then scroll down for a few of our Food Channel favorite “burger” recipes.

A few of our Food Channel faves:
Mini Chicken Sliders

These little sliders make a terrific burger alternative. You may find you actually prefer them to the beefy version.
Applewood Smokehouse Sandwiches

Hearty BBQ smoked chicken or pulled pork sandwiches layered on toasted Kaiser rolls with crisp Applewood-Smoked bacon, smoky-sweet cider barbecue sauce and crunchy apple slaw.
Classic Flame-Grilled Burger

Made simple, with a toasted, fluffy bun, ground sirloin, and melty cheese, this burger is the one we always come back to, with love.
Wyoming Bison Burger

American Buffalo (bison) meat has a rich, slightly sweet meaty flavor and lean fine marbled texture. We pan-seared our bison burgers in a cast iron skillet, but they are just as delicious done on the grill.
