4 Healthy Recipes for National Green Juice Day

With the holidays over and New Years Resolutions still in full swing, we want to help you keep that resolution by celebrating a lesser known holiday, National Green Juice Day on January 26th!

Green foods are such an important part of maintaining a healthy diet and are easily incorporated into food recipes, or in this case, juices and smoothies. Typically, green foods are high in antioxidants and other important nutrients, such as iron and zinc. Green food items are low in calories and, usually, low carb to carb-free. They are high in vitamins such as vitamin A, C, and E and you should be eating at least three servings of greens each day.

Are you getting the picture yet? Incorporating these green juices into your daily diet is a vital part of ‘staying healthy.’ If you’re still stuck with your childhood mentality, in thinking that green foods can’t taste good, give the following recipes a chance and be prepared for a change.

Kale Spinach Juice

Remove the skin and the core of the pineapple, and trim and prepare the kale and spinach. Close the juicer lever and extract kale-spinach-pineapple in order. When putting the last ingredients in, place the lever in half-opened position to release compressed pulp. Serve.

Ingredients: 

1/4 of pineapple

A handful of kale

A handful of spinach

Directions: Remove the skin and the core of the pineapple, and trim and prepare the kale and spinach. Close the juicer lever and extract kale-spinach-pineapple in order. When putting the last ingredients in, place the lever in half-opened position to release compressed pulp. Serve.

Apple Cucumber Juice

Apple, cranberry and cucumber make this green juice not only good for you, but flavorful as well.

Ingredients:

3/4 cup of cucumber

1/2 cup of apple

1/4 cup of lemon

1/4 cup of celery

Directions: Cut off the ends of the cucumber, peel skin, and slice into appropriate sizes. Remove the seeds from the apple and cut. Prepare celery by washing thoroughly. Wash lemon with baking soda and prepare by cutting it, with the peel intact. Put the juicing lever on “close.” Alternate the order of ingredient insertion, but insert ingredients in the order shown above.
