This protein-packed chocolate mousse from Ashley Pettit may be dairy-free, gluten-free, egg-free, and nut-free, but one thing it isn’t free of is incredible flavor! With only 110 calories per serving, this is a simple-to-make snack that will satisfy your chocolate cravings without the added fat and sugar.

Ingredients

  • 1 large avocado
  • 2 tablespoons raw cacao powder
  • 1 heaped tsp. maca powder
  • 1 scoop spirulina
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup coconut nectar or pure maple syrup, and more to taste
  • 1/2 cup hemp milk, unflavored and unsweetened
  • Raw cacao nibs, to top
  • Mixed berries, to top

Preparation

  • 1 Peel, remove the pit, andmash the avocado in a small bowl, then place it in a blender with the remainder of the ingredients.
  • 2 Start off blending it on a low speed and then gradually increase over a 30-second span.
  • 3 Stop the blender, taste, and add any sweetener if necessary.
  • 4 Serve in a small bowl topped with ¼ cup mixed berries and raw cacao nibs.
