There’s an abundance of National food holidays, but few stand out to us as important. Such as February 22nd, or National Margarita Day!
A margarita is a traditional cocktail made with tequila, triple sec and lime juice served either on the rocks, blended with ice or straight up. The earliest mention of the Margarita was in 1938 by Carlos “Danny” Herrera in Mexico, which was created for a customer who was allergic to all other spirits but tequila.
Our friends at National Today have conducted research with 1,000-plus Americans and have found that 76 percent of Americans today enjoy drinking margaritas, which is over 3/4 of the population. How do they prefer it? Sixty-seven percent of Americans like it frozen while only 33 percent prefer it served over ice.
In celebration of a holiday honoring a drink 3/4 of the American population enjoys, we present 9 of our favorite recipes to help you join in the festivities!
