Hello, Dolly, indeed. Today is country legend Dolly Parton’s birthday. The music icon was born in Sevier County, Tennessee and, over the years, sales of her singles, albums/collections and digital downloads combined total more than 100 million worldwide.

In honor of the artist’s music and ever-optimistic attitude, we celebrate this feast fit for a southern queen. Some of the recipes are for traditional Tennessee fare and others are inspired by food served at Dollywood, in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.

Buttermilk Fried Chicken with Cream Gravy
For this Midwestern favorite; chicken pieces are first marinated in tangy seasoned buttermilk and then dredged in a blend of buttery crushed club crackers and flour. Working in several batches chicken pieces are pan-fried until golden and crispy and then finished in the oven until tender and served topped with a ladle of cream gravy. Crushed crackers give the breading a rich flaky-crisp texture.
