May is the month we celebrate hamburgers and the variety of ways they can be prepared, and topped. They’re a staple at picnics, sporting events, and gatherings of family and friends, but it’s always fun to shake things up a bit with creative toppings and ingredients.
There’s much debate between hamburger purists and those with broader definitions. As in whether it’s a hamburger when it’s on a bun or can two slices of bread suffice? We tend to call the later a sandwich, and my personal rule of thumb is that every burger is a sandwich, but not every sandwich is a burger. But who needs oversight and rules when it comes to enjoying this favorite? The ultimate rule: let your creativity reign – and enjoy both!
